EELS,古怪的名字,鳗鱼?主唱MARK在早期家乡的东部时代被称为"E",我想后来乐队的名称和这也有些关系吧. EELS唱的世界不是很CUTE,但却很美丽,是种存在的美丽.其实美丽也不是个恰当的形容词,也许只是真实.很多评论都把他们冠以实验,另类.的确听它 们的时候总是能体味到主流音乐甜腻之外的"冷",不是酷酷的冷,那还太时尚.冷是种蓝色的,厚重的,岁月剥落了诸多伪装后的冷.

MARK的父亲Hugh Eveeret是科学届知名人士,提出多重空间理论(MANY WORLDS THEORY), 但患严重心脏病,母亲癌症,姐姐自杀.他在抑郁灰暗中成长,在不断的制造麻烦,辍学后矛头终于指向音乐,也许那里他找到了出路.在我看来,他自己就是个 beautiful freak.
